KULA LUMPUR (Bernama) - The Malaysia Convention
& Exhibition Bureau (MyCeb) is optimistic of surpassing the RM900 million
revenue target set for this year despite having hosted a lesser number of
international events.
General Manager for International Events Tony Nagamaiah
said, as at end-November, MyCEB achieved RM762.5 million in revenue and this
did not include earnings from the Jennifer Lopez life concert, Kuala Lumpur
Indian Festival and the "Kids Golf World Championship Malaysia", all
held in December.
He said 189 international events were held in 2011 against
179 events held this year.
"Based on the first eleven months' of this year, it is
likely that we will be able to surpass the target set for the year.
"We will step up efforts to bid and secure for
international events to be held in Malaysia," Nagamaiah told a press
conference Tuesday.
