Branson to become ‘stewardess’ in May.
PETALING JAYA: Virgin Group billionaire Richard Branson will
don a red skirt and serve drinks on an AirAsia flight in May next year.
AirAsia group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tony
Fernandes tweeted: “Now here is a man with honor @richardbranson who just
contacted me to honour his bet. He will be a stewardess in May on Airasia.”
Fernandes said although Branson was two years late on
honouring the bet he had made with him, the British mogul did not renege on it.
In December 2009, Branson challenged Fernandes' Lotus F1
team to beat his Virgin Racing group at the 2010 Formula 1 championship season.
The loser would have to serve as a stewardess on the winner's airline. The
Virgin boss lost the bet. He however injured his knee in 2011, postponing his
“punishment”.
It was previously reported that Branson would have to wear a
specially tailored uniform to fit his 180cm frame, and would serve passengers
on a chartered flight between Kuala Lumpur and London.
All proceeds from the flight would go towards a charity
organisation of Branson's choice.
