Tourism Ministry Plans New Training Modules To Create
Tourist Guides For Heritage Sites.
GEORGE TOWN - The Ministry of Tourism
plans to have new training modules to create qualified tourist guides for
Unesco heritage sites in Malaysia namely in Malacca and Penang, according to
its deputy secretary-general Rashidi Hasbullah.
He said the ministry was planning to value-add the tourist
guide's badge with an additional sticker for conducting tours in heritage
areas.
"A tourist guide with a blue badge who wants to become
a heritage guide needs further training to get the additional sticker," he
told reporters after briefing industry players in Penang on the Visit Malaysia
Year (VMY) 2014, here Saturday.
Also present was Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk
Mirza Mohammad Taiyab.
Rashidi said there are planning to conduct a two-week course
for interested tourist guides to ensure they are qualified to become such
guides (for Unesco heritage areas).
