MyCEB To Recruit Over 70 Industry Partners This Year.

KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is aiming to recruit over 70 industry partners under its Industry Partner Programme (IPP) Networking Session this year. Its Chief Executive Officer, Zulkefli Hj Sharif said the main objective of the IPP is to provide updated industry knowledge and business opportunities for partners, to increase Malaysia's success rate in securing international business events.

"MyCEB has recruited 237 partners through the IPP, since its launch in 2011," he told Bernama at the "IPP Networking Session" here Wednesday. These partners vary across sectors which includes hospitality, event planners, destination management companies, professional conference organisers, conventions centres and venue owners.

"The networking session creates a platform to bring industry partners and players alike together for business-to-business networking, showcase new products, share knowledge and expertise and invite industry players to become our appointed partners," he said. "It also aims to further strengthen Malaysia's competitive position in the global tourism market," he added.

Amongst the advantages of the IPP is access to sales leads and business referrals, as well as professional development opportunities through cooperative platforms under the destination umbrella.

Zulkefli said companies can also expect to enhance their profile and gain access to vital market intelligence. The IPP's wide range of sales and marketing initiatives will also help propel local companies into the international business tourism market.

The networking session also witnessed the unveiling of the IPP logo which signifies its commitment towards partners. MyCEB's networking session and other innovative programmes are in line with its mission under the Economic Transformation Programme, to grow business tourism arrivals from five per cent to eight per cent of the overall total number.

This translates to an increase from 1.2 million (2009) to 2.9 million by 2020, and position Malaysia as one of the top five destinations in the Asia Pacific for international meetings.
