Kuching To Host Routes Asia Conference Next Year.
KUCHING - Kuching will be hosting the Routes Asia 2014
conference and exhibition, a premier annual event for the meeting of airlines
and airports operators throughout Asia.
Sarawak Tourism Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg,
said today the city was chosen as the venue for the event ahead of three other
well-established cities, namely Osaka in Japan, Brisbane (Australia) and Hong
Kong.
"Next year, all the CEOs (chief executive officers) of
airlines and airports will come here to see what we can offer and we hope that
they will bring their planes or flights over to Kuching. We want Kuching to
become the international destinations," he said.
He made the remarks when speaking to officiate the handing
over ceremony of a Quality Environment Practices (QE5S) Recognition Certificate
to Dormani Hotel here.
He attributed Sarawak's success in winning the bid to become
the host of the event to the strong collaboration with the Federal government
and Malaysia Airports Berhad.
